Home-Start is a charity which supports families with young children.
Home-Start is a charity which supports families with young children. These families can be struggling for a number of reasons such as isolation, disability, multiple births and bereavement. Home-start’s volunteers work alongside families to give compassionate and confidential support, tailored to each family. This can include (but is not limited to) trips to the park, helping families access toddler groups, signposting to other services, help establishing routine and of course lots of PLAYING!

- Understanding the needs and aspirations of families, as well as the challenges of parenting. - Positive attitude towards working with diverse individuals - Sensitive and caring attitude. - Non-judgmental attitude. - Awareness of confidentiality and ability to discern when disclosure is necessary for safeguarding. - Reliability - Effective communication skills, including active listening. - Warm and open personality, along with a sense of humour. - Ability to keep written records as requested by Home-Start.

Initial Preparation Course (5-7 days, during school hours eg 10am-2pm) 2-3 hours per week to visit one family Commitment of at least 1 year Regular support and supervision (phone call, 1-2-1 and group supervision)
