With guidance from library staff, volunteers will undertake some or all of the following • Preparing and clearing the children’s library for the session. This may include moving light furniture and putting out toys and books • Welcoming parents, carers and children • Assisting staff who lead the rhyme singing • Building good relationships with the group • Engaging and chatting with parents, carers and children after the session, directing specific book queries to staff, and alerting them to comments and feedback • Cleaning musical instruments ready for next session • In some locations volunteers prepare, serve and clear simple refreshments

Managing People, Talking To Others
It would be helpful if the volunteer has/is: • A warm and friendly person • Able to relate to children and their families • Practical • Comfortable singing in public (but no voice skills needed!)
