Children's Bereavement Support Volunteer

Holding On Letting Go

You will be working 1-1 with a bereaved child over a Saturday and Sunday and giving them coping strategies for all of their feelings. You will also be working in a group setting and will have a group leader to guide you.

Detailed Description

Job Role: To work with a bereaved child/young person Duties and Responsibilities: This role is working alongside a child/young person on one of our bereavement support weekends. Ideally you will have experience in working with children and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and be able to support people in distress and remain calm. You will be working therapeutically with your allocated child. You will have a group leader who will guide you through the structure of each day.

Why these skills are required

Ideally you will have a working background of working with children and young people or may have counselling qualifications or work experience in bereavement.

What is in it for you

You will be helping a bereaved child deal with all of their difficult feelings regarding their bereavement. The child/young person will be very grateful that they have been placed with someone who can hear their story. You will be part of a friendly and supportive team. Free training, mileage expenses and food and refreshments are provided.

5 days a year (Saturdays or Sundays)
