Holding On Letting Go

Kitchen helper to prepare refreshments for break times and cook a hot and cold lunch.

Detailed Description

Kitchen Helper Role: Preparing, cooking and laying out food for adults and children for a hot/cold buffet lunch plus preparing snacks at two break times. Cleaning up the kitchen after lunch and break times. You will be working alongside another kitchen helper. We pay 40p per mile, provide food and refreshments and free training (Safeguarding children). We also provide a branded t-shirt for you to wear in the kitchen. We ask all kitchen volunteers to commit to at least 3 days a year in the kitchen. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepping the food for lunch which will be a hot and cold buffet for adults and children. Laying all the food out for lunch and then clearing it away. Organizing the break times which will mean offering hot/cold drinks to everyone and a snack. Cleaning the kitchen after use.

Why these skills are required

No skills needed, you will be paired up with another kitchen helper who has helped out in the kitchen before. Full training is given. Food, uniform and mileage is covered.

You will make the children attending a bereavement support weekend very happy when they are on their break times and lunch time when you are offering them some delicious food which they are very grateful for after working through their emotions. You will receive free training, have your mileage paid and have your food and refreshments provide and be given a t-shirt to wear.

Time Commitment

Atleast 3 days a year but you can commit to more days should you wish to.

Demelza Hospice in Sittingbourne, Wrotham School in Sevenoaks a School in Ramsgate and Community Hub in Sheppey. Each volunteer can attend what venue they chose, we are very flexible.

We ask all volunteers to have a driving licence and access to their own vehicle. We pay mileage.
