Green Walking Volunteer - Maidstone

Help support our service users on short walks in the countryside.

Detailed Description

Our Detox Unit is based in a lovely rural area of Maidstone. One of the activities they like to run for residents is a green walk - this is a chance for residents to get some fresh air and exercise. This walks are run by the Occupational Therapy team, so you will not be on your own with service users. Walks are relatively short and sedentary, so no strenuous activity is expected. The routes can be uneven and bumpy so please keep that in mind. As well as helping support the OT team you will also be there to engage with service users, keep an eye that no one is left behind, and other activities to help support the walk organiser.

Why these skills are required

The walks are easy going, so no real physical requirements. What's most important is that you are there to engage with service users, talk to them, put them at ease, and be a friend.
