Volunteer Mentor
Beacon Invicta Youth Project
Build a positive relationship with a local young person through regular one-to-one mentoring.
Volunteer Mentors are matched with a young person aged 7–16 and meet them regularly for relaxed, activity-based one-to-one sessions in the local community. The role is about building a consistent, trusting relationship that helps a young person grow in confidence, talk things through, try new activities and feel supported. Sessions might include a café visit, walk, sport, games or another shared interest. You do not need formal mentoring experience; we’re looking for reliable, patient adults who can listen without judgement. Training, supervision, expenses and ongoing support are provided.

Listening, Teamwork, Talking To Others
We are looking for reliable, patient and approachable adults who can listen without judgement and build a positive relationship over time. Volunteers should communicate well, respect boundaries, keep agreed arrangements and ask for support when needed. Formal mentoring experience is not required, as training and ongoing guidance will be provided.
You’ll receive training, regular supervision and ongoing support while gaining practical mentoring experience. You’ll develop your communication and relationship-building skills, become part of a supportive local team and see the difference that a consistent, trusted adult can make in a young person’s life.
Mentors commit to an initial 12-session arrangement, usually meeting for around one to two hours weekly or fortnightly. The day and time are agreed around the volunteer and young person. Mentors also complete a brief session record and take part in regular supervision.
