Volunteer Youth Worker
Beacon Invicta Youth Project
Help create a safe, welcoming youth group where local young people can thrive and belong.
Volunteer Youth Workers help create a safe, welcoming weekly group for children and young people in Gravesham. You’ll support games, sports, creative activities and conversations, help set up and pack away, and encourage young people to build confidence, make friends and feel they belong. No youth-work experience is needed—we’re looking for reliable adults who are calm, encouraging and consistent. Sessions are usually once a week for a few hours, with opportunities to support trips and events. Full training, supervision and ongoing support are provided by Beacon Invicta Youth Project.

Listening, Teamwork, Talking To Others
Volunteers should be reliable, patient and comfortable speaking with children and young people. You’ll need to listen without judgement, work well as part of a small team and respond calmly when young people need support. Previous experience is welcome but not essential, as training and ongoing guidance are provided.
You’ll gain practical experience of community youth work and develop skills in communication, safeguarding and supporting young people. You’ll receive training, regular supervision and ongoing support, while becoming part of a friendly small team. Most importantly, you’ll build positive relationships and see the difference your time makes for local young people.
We ask volunteers to attend regularly on Fridays, normally from around 4.15pm to 6.45pm, including setting up and packing away. Consistency is important because young people benefit from seeing familiar adults, although we understand that occasional absences are unavoidable. Opportunities to support additional trips, activities and events are optional.
