Compassionate Neighbour befriender
Compassionate Neighbours
Are you a kind and compassionate person? A good listener who enjoys a chat?
Could brighten someone's day with a friendly visit? Just 1 to 2 hours a week to lend a listening ear, provide a smile and conversation to someone who is lonely and isolated. Following our informal training, you will be thoughtfully matched with someone who shares your interests or has a similar personality who could benefit from a friendly visit. Compassionate Neighbours is a reciprocal friendship and is flexible so you decide on how to build your friendship at a pace that suits you both.

Listening, Talking To Others
To be comfortable visiting someone in their home who is elderly, frail, may have a long-term health issue or is caring for a loved one. To be empathic, friendly, sensitive to other people's feelings and a good communicator.
Flexibility - to make a difference - to make a friend - opportunities to widen your own social network with other volunteers - ongoing support. Following an initial introduction, you will arrange your visits directly with the person you are matched with. Being a reciprocal friendship, you will gain a friend, someone you will meet regularly and build a friendship with. In addition to the one-to-one visits, there is the option to meet other volunteers at our regular social events so you will be able to broaden your own social network meeting like-minded people.
An hour or two on a weekly basis - days and times to be arranged following introduction between the volunteer and person they will be visiting.
