Support young people and help a local RAF Air Cadet Squadron run safely and effectively.
402 (Gravesend) Squadron RAF Air Cadets supports young people aged 12–20 through aviation, leadership, adventure training, community engagement and personal development. We are looking for adult volunteers to support the running of the Squadron and help provide positive opportunities for young people in the local community. This is a flexible role and could involve supporting parade nights, helping with activities, assisting with administration, supporting events, helping with equipment or logistics, or bringing specialist skills that could benefit cadets. You do not need military experience.

We are looking for reliable, positive and practical adults who want to support young people. The most important qualities are commitment, good judgement, teamwork, patience and the ability to act appropriately in a youth organisation. Helpful skills or experience may include: Working with young people Administration Organisation and planning Communication Events support Practical or technical skills First aid, outdoor activities or sports Leadership, coaching or mentoring Fundraising or community engagement IT, media, education or training Previous experience is welcome but not essential. Full guidance will be provided, and volunteers can develop their role over time.
This is an opportunity to make a direct difference to young people in the local community. You will help cadets build confidence, leadership, teamwork, resilience and a sense of service. Volunteering with the RAF Air Cadets can also help you develop your own skills, meet new people, gain experience in youth work, leadership and organisation, and become part of a supportive national youth movement. The role is flexible and can be shaped around your interests, experience and availability.
Usually one evening per week, with flexibility depending on availability. Additional opportunities may arise for weekend activities, events, camps or community engagement, but these are optional and can be discussed with the Squadron. The main Squadron activity takes place on weekday evenings in Gravesend. Some tasks may also be completed remotely or flexibly, depending on the role. Weekend opportunities may occasionally be available for activities, events or trips.

Volunteers should be able to attend the Squadron in Gravesend, DA11 0EU, at least occasionally. The role is best suited to someone within reasonable travelling distance of Gravesend.
