Independent Visitor to Young People in Care
Coram Voice
Volunteer to be matched with and meet a young person in care once a month for a minimum of 2 years.
Young People in care are paired with an Independent Visitor. Independent Visitors (IV) are for children and young people who are ‘looked after’ by the local authority and who would like to have an adult friend to support them. The young person and IV meet together once a month and may have phone contact in between these times. When they meet, the young person and Independent Visitor would decide together where they would like to go and what they would like to do- often choosing to visit local attractions. Full training and supervision is provided and further support can be sought when needed.
