Capstone Day Centre Dementia Support Volunteer

Support people with dementia through activities, companionship, refreshments, and care.

Detailed Description

As a Volunteer, you will support people living with dementia by helping to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment. You will assist with activities such as arts and crafts, games, music, reminiscence sessions, and social events, encouraging participation and promoting wellbeing. Duties may also include serving refreshments, providing companionship, helping prepare activity areas, and supporting staff with the smooth running of sessions. This rewarding role helps reduce social isolation and improve quality of life while developing valuable communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance from staff. Respect for confidentiality, dignity, and diversity. Willingness to encourage participation in activities and social interaction. Basic organisational skills and a flexible attitude. Understanding of dementia is helpful but not essential, as training and support will be provided.
