Driving Volunteer

Demelza

Driving volunteers help support Demelza in so many ways, from helping with transport for children and families to medical appointments, to delivering therapy bags, equipment and seasonal gifts to family homes. Whether you are able to undertake small local drives, or happy to help get our families a bit further afield, every volunteer contribution makes a huge difference to our families and removes a practical barrier from their day-to-day lives.

Detailed Description

Driving volunteers help support Demelza families in so many ways. Whether you are happy to undertake small local drives or help a bit further afield, it is such a help to our families and the staff supporting them. Tasks can include helping families get to and from the hospice or taking them to medical appointments, taking children or families to our activities allowing them to take part in things they are not normally able to, collecting or delivering essential equipment and helping delivery family support activity bags, therapy bags and treats such as Easter Eggs and Christmas presents. You must have held your full driving licence for 2yrs and be aged over 21. You can use your own vehicle for some of these activities, providing they are able to meet insurance requirements. Alternatively, you can drive a Demelza car or mini bus subject to licence restrictions.  All driving volunteers must undertake a DBS check when joining Demelza at the enhanced level, including barred list information. Because you will be driving on behalf of Demelza, we will also need to see your driving licence, and any MOT or Insurance documents if you are using your own vehicle.

We Welcome
At Demelza, we are committed to being an inclusive organisation for everyone and value the contribution that a diverse workforce will make to our success. We are proud the children and families we support represent the rich diversity of the communities where we work. This is not the case for our staff and volunteer teams. We recognise we need to do more to improve racial diversity across our workforce and have identified this as a priority for action in our inclusion plan.
