Role: Family Hub Volunteer Group Facilitator

Group Facilitator volunteers use their shared experiences to offer guidance and reduce isolation
· Plan, facilitate, and review peer-to-peer support groups and Speak Out Parent discussions in Family Hubs and, where appropriate, in community settings which reflect the needs of parents and carers. · Ensure group meets appropriate health and safety requirements. · Encourage parents to register with Family Hubs · Follow safeguarding procedures for any concerns identified within group. · Liaising with network members who can share knowledge about varied services depending on the needs and interests of peer-to-peer support groups. · Promoting peer-led groups to potential attendees.
Counselling
Managing People, Counselling, Evaluating & Reviewing, Language Skills
· Experience in mentoring and facilitating groups, or a willingness to learn. · Ability to connect with families and children, providing encouragement and support. · Ability to empower and support under-represented members of the community. · The ability to establish and maintain relationships with professionals and partner agencies. · Able to share personal experience to support families. · Able to offer empathetic and non-judgemental support to families. · Excellent at listening. · Good communication skills. · An understanding of the needs of children, young people and families according to the age range you are volunteering with · Understanding the need for professional confidentiality. · The ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people · Willing to undertake relevant training and follow KCC safeguarding procedures. · Flexible to the varying needs of families and services provided by the Family Hub.

Time commitment: Weekly commitment to the session you are facilitating. Days of the week and hours: This role accommodates the needs of the families and the Family Hub’s operational activities so hours are variable, and we welcome discussion about this.
