What skills are required for this role

Catering, Cleaning & Tidying

Why these skills are required

Volunteers should at the minimun have basic practical skills such as for setting up tables, setting out items, keeping storage tidy. We like to offer a friendly welcoming approach to our customers - some of whom are vulnerable. For those who would be suitable to help in the kitchen at session, basic cooking skills ie to prepare rice, pasta, dish up with the hot meal and again cleaning and tidying up afterwards. Everyone is required to do a Food Safety Hygiene Level 2 certificate and allergy awareness. We signpost to other organisations in the area for homelessness and generally those in need of specialist services. Must be 18 plus

What is in it for you

A way of giving in practical terms - a hot meal and friendly face can make a difference even if just in that moment. You can be as involved as much or as little as you feel able ie just help at a couple of sessions or if you want there are many opportunities to grow as a volunteer within AOH if you would like to assist in other areas eg. more cooking; fundraising; admin etc. We have a lovely team of volunteers, just need more!
