Detailed Description

CSEK has a Carer Involvement Policy and Strategy which sets out its commitment to involving Carers in planning and reviewing its services. The Carer Advisory Group review plans for new and existing services and helps us to identify priorities. As a member of the Carer Advisory Group you will make a difference by using your lived experiences and/or knowledge of experiences of other Carers to: • Support CSEK in monitoring and evaluating existing services • Contribute to discussions on strategic plans and the development of new services • Identify key priorities and issues for Carers

Why these skills are required

Members of the Carer Advisory Group should be willing and able to: • Contribute to group discussions effectively and ensure that everyone is encouraged to have a voice. • Work with and develop relationships with people from diverse backgrounds to ensure discussions reflect the views of the entire population of East Kent • Respect and recognise different viewpoints • Contribute in an objective, balanced way and challenge constructively; and • Respect information given to the group in confidence. • Demonstrate awareness of and have a commitment to equal opportunities, inclusion and non-discriminatory behaviour • Be a Carer (or have recent or relevant personal experience)

Time Commitment

• Meetings are approx. once a quarter for 2 hours – meeting times/locations are agreed to fit with as many members as possible. Meetings are accessible online also. • Papers will be sent out ahead of each meeting. Members are asked to read these in advance. Papers may include for example draft service plans.

We usually meet in Canterbury or Sandwich but meetings are accessible online also.
