Whitstable Umbrella is a community-driven organisation seeking Trustees to help guide our work and ensure long-term impact. You don’t need prior experience, just curiosity, good judgement, and a collaborative mindset. We welcome people from all backgrounds, especially with skills in finance, governance, HR, fundraising, or community work. Roles include Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, HR support, and Grant Writer. Commitment is manageable, with monthly meetings and quarterly strategy sessions. Join us to help make a meaningful difference. Get involved and help shape our future.

Why these skills are required

We’re looking for people with good judgement, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to community. Useful skills include finance, governance, HR, fundraising, grant writing, strategy, compliance, administration, and community-led work. Previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential.

Time Commitment

Totally manageable. One Trustee meeting a month, and one Strategy meeting every 3 months. Some light reading, and the occasional bit of thinking time in between. We’re respectful of people’s time and lives.

Whitstable (CT5), serving the wider Canterbury district and surrounding areas in East Kent, including nearby coastal and rural communities. The role supports a community organisation with a local focus and impact across the wider North Kent region.

Located at St Mary’s Hall, Oxford Street, Whitstable (CT5 1DD). Easily accessible by public transport, with Whitstable train station a short walk away. Local bus routes serve the area, and limited on-street parking is available nearby.
