As a General Shop Support Volunteer, you will help the shop run day to day. Tasks may include: Helping keep the shop organised and running smoothly Receiving and putting away stock deliveries Pricing items and preparing them for sale Checking dates and rotating stock Filling shelves and keeping displays tidy Repacking food items when needed Cleaning the shop and equipment Helping make sure customers feel welcome
SE Kitchen is a Social Supermarket located in Ashford, Kent. Providing a wide range of affordable groceries to residents of Ashford; from fresh produce, chilled and frozen foods, to pantry goods, hygiene and household cleaning items. The small team of staff and much larger crew of wonderful volunteers, support SE Kitchen to open to the public from Monday – Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Your role will include: • assisting with the smooth running of the shop • helping receive and store stock deliveries • pricing items for sale • following specific shop processes • rotating and checking for short-dated stock • displaying stock and merchandising • handling and repackaging food items • store cleaning and equipment maintenance duties • ensuring our customers enjoy their shopping experience! Optional: • speaking to customers to ensure we are meeting their needs • signposting people to other relevant Social Enterprise Kent services and opportunities and/or local community groups and services. • Learning how to use the till. • If you drive and have access to a vehicle – perhaps you could consider helping us collect shop stock donations too?

General Shop Support Volunteers will be keen to work as part of a team, to provide local residents with the best service possible. They will be friendly and approachable, have a positive attitude and be keen to help make a difference for our customers. Please note that the shop can often be very busy, but we do also experience regular quieter spells where we work as a smaller team – so please let us know if you have a preference. No specific skills or experience are required for this role, but the following are desirable: • Reliable, friendly, flexible, and supportive • A willingness to get stuck into practical shop tasks • Enthusiasm and an interest in helping the success of the shop
