Farm Rescue Volunteer
The Felix Project
Farm Rescue Volunteers harvest surplus farm produce to reduce waste and support communities in need.
As a Farm Rescue Volunteer, you will play a hands on role in tackling food waste and supporting communities across London. Working outdoors on local farms, you will help harvest surplus fruit and vegetables that would otherwise go to waste. This is an active, physical position ideal for people who enjoy practical work, being outside in nature, and contributing as part of a friendly, supportive team. You will help pick and collect fresh produce, ensuring it’s handled with care so it can be delivered to community organisations, food hubs, and households that need it most.

Farm Rescue Volunteers should enjoy practical, outdoor work and feel comfortable with physical activity such as bending, lifting, and walking on uneven ground. Strong teamwork skills are important, as volunteers work closely with others to harvest produce safely and efficiently. Attention to detail and careful handling of fruits to help ensure crops remain in good condition for distribution. A positive attitude, reliability, willingness to follow safety guidance, and an openness to learning new tasks all help volunteers thrive in this hands‑on, rewarding role.
Farm Rescue Volunteers gain a range of meaningful benefits, including the chance to spend time outdoors, improve physical wellbeing, and connect with nature while contributing to a positive cause. Volunteers develop practical skills in harvesting and handling fresh produce, learn about seasonal crops and sustainable food systems, and gain a deeper understanding of how food waste can be reduced. The role also offers the opportunity to meet new people, work as part of a supportive and friendly team, and experience the satisfaction of making a direct environmental and social impact through every harvest.
