Volunteer director(s) to help develop future RES projects
The ideal candidate will have expertise in and passion for Renewable Energy and a background in developing new projects/seeking new opportunities and/or technical skills in the design of renewable energy projects (including but not limited to PV solar farms and PV rooftop arrays). They would join the existing OCE board of volunteers who (with the assistance of asset managers) currently operate a 5MWp PV solar farm and ~150kWp PV rooftop in the Sittingbourne area. Each year OCE awards grants to local community organisations. Please don't hesitate to contact us for an informal discussion.

Ideally one or more of the following: *Passion for renewable energy (RES). *Skills in the development and/or project management of (RES) projects. *Technical skills (e.g., electrical engineering) in the design, construction and/or operation of renewable energy projects (including but not limited to PV solar farms/ground mounted arrays and PV rooftop arrays). *Interest in biodiversity and land management.
Whatever age or experience you have, you will have the opportunity to: *Learn about the long-term operation of renewable energy assets *Help manage existing RES assets and identify opportunities to develop new projects *Learn about land management and help enhance biodiversity as part of RES projects (e.g., at PV solar farms). *Learn about and participating in the award of grants to local community organisations. *Join a capable team of voluntary directors *Become a director of a company (if you haven't already had the opportunity) *Develop links to other local community organisations
*Email correspondence happens on a daily basis (although most issues do not require an immediate response). *Fortnightly virtual meetings are held with our asset managers to discuss operational matters (~1 hour every 2 weeks on a Friday morning). *Quarterly Board Meetings in Faversham or Sittingbourne (3-4 hours every 3 months on a Thursday morning). *Site visits to PV solar farm take place 2-3 times a year following board meetings (2 hours every 4-6 months on a Thursday afternoon). *AGM is held virtually on an annual basis in September. This lasts for 1-2 hours and also features presentations from grant recipients. *Additional time may be needed for grant awards, social media (inc. website and newsletters), seeking new opportunities (but this is shared between directors depending on their interests and responsibilities).

Orchard Community Energy operates in the Swale and Medway areas. Board meetings are held quarterly in either Faversham or Sittingbourne. Virtual meetings are held fortnightly for 1 hour to discuss operational matters. Our current board includes people living throughout Kent (and further afield).
