The Office Maintenance Volunteer supports the safe, efficient, and welcoming operation of the ADSS Safeharbour office by assisting with routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general facilities tasks. The role includes light DIY duties such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fittings, checking fixtures, and supporting basic repairs, as well as helping with office upkeep, storage organisation, furniture assembly, and small layout changes. Volunteers carry out visual safety checks, report hazards to Office Manager, & support planned maintenance days, always working within ADSS h&s guidelines

The Office Maintenance Volunteer should have a practical, hands-on approach with basic DIY and maintenance skills. They should be able to carry out light tasks safely and competently, follow instructions, and work independently once tasks are assigned. Good communication skills are important for reporting issues and working with staff. The role requires reliability, punctuality, attention to detail, and an awareness of health and safety. A willingness to uphold ADSS values, respect confidentiality, and know when to escalate issues to a manager is essential.

The Office Maintenance Volunteer role is flexible, with an ideal commitment of 2–4 hours per week. This can be arranged to fit around other responsibilities, school, or work, and can be adjusted if needed. Volunteers can choose a regular schedule or occasional sessions, and longer-term or project-based support is also welcome.
