We have a variety of roles available to suit all skills. Some of our volunteers offer to be a member of the cooking teams, others choose to listen and chat to our guests. We also need volunteers who are willing to clean and tidy our shelters at the end of each session, so there are plenty of opportunities available for willing volunteers.
Our volunteers report a sense of wellbeing from supporting people who, often through no direct fault of their own, are down on their luck and need a hot meal, overnight shelter and somebody they can talk to and share their concerns. Supporting others can be very rewarding, both for the guest and the volunteer.
Our volunteers can offer to do as many or as few shifts as they are able to manage. Reliability is key though, so it's best to only offer for the shifts you will definitely be able to attend. However, we do understand that things sometimes change at fairly short notice, so if you have committed to a shift and find you are unable to do it, please just let us know so that we can find cover.
