Volunteer Trustee – No Panic
No Panic
At No Panic, we provide much-needed advice to people who suffer from anxiety, in its many forms. We offer a number of support services, our key one being the helpline, open 365 days a year; our aim is to enhance our services and to grow. This is your chance to join our volunteer trustees; to help us achieve our aims and shape the charity’s future. If you have finance or fundraising skills and/or have acted as a trustee for another small charity, you will be a welcome addition to our committee.
At No Panic, our key service is our helpline, but we also provide additional services, including CBT-focussed mentoring, a listening service, online chat groups, and telephone support groups. All of these are highly accessible and our members find them invaluable, when help is so hard to get. Our ambition is always to do more, such as expanding the services for young adults and children, providing greater member benefits and making improvements to our shops (physical and online). As a trustee, you will be contributing to the strength of our charity, to allow us to maintain and enhance the much-needed services we offer to anxiety sufferers all over the UK. To achieve our ambitions, we are increasing our sights and planning to bid for funds that are larger but also realistic, given the size of the charity and the skills of its staff and volunteers. To make such fundraising truly effective, we will need to prepare bid proposals that are thoroughly prepared, appropriately targeted and well presented. Frustratingly, we lack trustees with the essential skills and experience that are needed; that is why we need you! In addition to the above, we are building a firm foundation, and we are seeking additional trustees to help us with keeping our policies up-to-date, and help us to ensure that we are compliant with our policies, and with external regulations. Trustees may be asked to fill Officer roles, or join sub-committees. An Officer may be required to oversee the work of several teams.

Ideally, our new trustee will have at least 3 years relevant experience in finance and/or raising funds or experience in governance/compliance and will be committed to our charity’s objectives. We are looking for someone who is confident and prepared to take the initiative. Ideal candidates will have volunteered at board level, in charities that employ a small number of staff, and rely mostly on volunteers. They will have the ability to work with a variety of people, with varying skill and knowledge level - people with whom you work may not share your skills, knowledge and experience. They will also have a balanced approach and will listen to opposing views and not become disillusioned if things don’t work out as they envisaged.
Volunteering is from home.
The Board of Trustees meets on the last Wednesday evening of the first and third month of each quarter. Sub-committees meet in the second month of the quarter. We ask volunteers to commit to at least a year.
