Ani-MATES: Creative Workshops In Schools & Communities
Animate Arts Company
Becoming an ani-MATE volunteer will be a really exciting and fun opportunity for those who are also passionate about the arts and supporting others to find their creative voices.
We are looking for a small team of friendly volunteers who can support our work in schools and the community throughout 2025. We are a not-for-profit arts organisation that provides extraordinary creative experiences for schools, communities, families in Kent and beyond. We believe that the Arts can be a powerful tool to boost wellbeing, educate and bring people together. We also have a particular love for creating artworks, often life-size, from paper and cardboard! Becoming an ani-MATE volunteer will be a really exciting and fun opportunity for those who are also passionate about the arts and supporting others to find their creative voices.

We are looking for individuals with a range of skills and interests. As an example, you might be interested in: • Joining the artist team on our projects in schools/at festivals. This could involve welcoming kids and families into the workshop space, encouraging people to have a go at the creative activity, take photos of the activity or chatting to participants to gather feedback. • Helping to prepare for a project. This could involve collecting recycled material to use in our projects, assembling art kits for our participants to use, or helping us to organise our tools/equipment in our storage unit before a project commences. • Supporting our behind-the-scenes teams – remotely or in our office. This could involve contacting some local schools/venues to invite them to be involved in our projects, posting interesting happenings on our social media, or even writing/proof-reading our newsletters.
“Volunteering with Animate Arts has been a great experience, it's really increased my knowledge of working within an arts charity, plus given me the opportunity to be involved in introducing the value of crafting and making to children, which has been a lot of fun, and can only be a good thing for everyone.” Volunteer from 2024 team
As much, or as little, as you can offer! Our organisation delivers a range of projects throughout the year, usually on a project-by-project basis. We are seeking a team of volunteers who can offer their time on a flexible basis. Once signed-up to the ani-MATE team, we would stay in touch with you throughout 2025, contacting you with volunteering opportunities as and when projects are confirmed, or when we need extra hands to make something happen. Volunteers can sign-up to any of the opportunities that work with their diary and interests!
