Cafe assistant
Dover Transport Museum Society [DD]
Cafe / catering volunteer to help in our busy, friendly cafe in the museum and in our catering van standing in the museum grounds serving snacks and beverages. Volunteers prepare simple hot and cold snacks and maintain cleanliness and tidiness within the cafe and the van, working to the museum's catering manager.
The museum runs a busy cafe in the museum serving beverages and light snacks and also operates a small catering van in the grounds of the museum on special event days. We are looking for cheerful volunteers able to help with food preparation and generally serving and looking after customers. The post is part of a small team who staff the cafe on Wednesdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays as available. Occasionally, special events or group visits are arranged on other days when catering may be required. Volunteers must have a good understanding of food hygiene standards and help in hygiene training will be available.
Catering
Catering, Talking To Others
Volunteers must be willing to learn basic food hygiene - assistance in on-line training will be available. It is helpful if volunteers have some previous experience, but not essential as support will be given to learn how the cafe prepares food and operates.
The museum is an interesting and lively place for both staff and visitors and the cafe is at its heart. The museum volunteers are friendly and love what they do. It is an enjoyable place to volunteer.
The amount of time expected will vary according to the volunteer's availability and can be agreed after discussion with the catering manager.
