Volunteer Choir Singer - HMP East Sutton park
Liberty Choir
We are looking for volunteers to sing with us at our new weekly in-prison sessions at HMP East Sutton Park every Thursday afternoon from 1.00 - 3.00 pm.
We are looking for volunteers (ideally based near Kent) to sing with our team of exceptional musicians and the women of HMP East Sutton Park every Thursday afternoon from 1.00 - 3.00 pm all year round. Prior to your first visit, you will have the opportunity to attend a taster session with us at HMP Brixton to get a feel for our choir programmes. If you have decided you would like to commit to volunteering with us, you will need to complete prison security clearance before you attend your first formal session at East Sutton Park.

The choir sings from lyric sheets as well as learning songs by heart and has a wide repertoire from swing and gospel to pop and classical. You don't need musical skills or experience, but a love of music and singing is desirable. Volunteers need an open mind and a non-judgemental approach to prisoners. A supportive, positive and caring attitude is essential.
We know that attending Liberty Choir can have a significant impact on reducing reoffending rates. Our sessions are designed to help develop prisoners’ skills and self-confidence, open up the world of arts through singing and provide access to new social networks when they re-enter the wider community. With your help, we can support even more prisoners through their sentence and help them get a second chance at life through the power of music and community.
Choir sessions are every Thursday afternoon from 1.00 - 3.00 pm all year round. Volunteers are expected to be able to commit to attending our choir sessions every week.
