Group support volunteer for our Mindful Gardening group
Purpose of the role West Kent Mind provides a range of services with and on behalf of people with mental health problems. We offer varied social activities for anyone aged 18 and over, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing support. We aim to help clients to connect with others and improve their wellbeing. The purpose of this role is to support the group leader to run the group and encourage clients to take part in maintaining the garden and grounds of the Wellbeing Centre. Key tasks • Chat with and support our clients. • Take part in the gardening activities and encourage clients to join in. • Help the group leader to set up and tidy up after sessions. • Other support as necessary. Experience and attributes • Good communication and active listening skills. • The desire to support people experiencing mental health problems. • An interest in gardening is beneficial but not essential. Please note that the garden at the centre is steep and consists of multiple levels, which may be unsuitable for someone with access needs.
