Volunteer Day Centre Driver

Age UK Herne Bay & Whitstable

To carry out driving needed to transport clients in a safe and comfortable manner between their home and our day centre. You will use our small, wheelchair accessible vehicles. The hours this service is delivered is Monday to Friday 9a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and 2.30p.m. to 4 p.m. A volunteer is not expected to be able to commit to all days and times and as little as one shift a week is a great help to us.

Detailed Description

• To provide physical assistance and reassurance to passengers to ensure they are comfortable and safe at all times, following specific instructions given by staff. • To drive safely and courteously. • To inform staff of any change to the client’s mobility, home or general wellbeing so that they can be offered the right support. • To ensure the Day Services Manager is informed of any damage, breakdowns, accidents or maintenance/ repair issues. • To maintain records/logs of the vehicle mileage and carry out basic safety checks before driving a vehicle. • To wear PPE, follow social distancing and cleaning measures if required. • To work in line with our Health and Safety Policy
