Can you spare a few hours once a week to help our BeYou team at their meet-ups for LGBTQ+ young people? It's somewhere 13 to 17-year-olds can go to be themselves, make friends and get advice for any issues they're facing.

Detailed Description

Can you spare a few hours once a week to help our BeYou team at their meet-ups for LGBTQ+ young people? It's somewhere 13 to 17-year-olds can go to be themselves, make friends and get advice for any issues they're facing. You’ll be offering advice to help young people address any concerns or worries relating to their sexuality, gender identity or expression. This could involve being someone LGBTQ+ young people can talk to about issues they're facing, helping them improve their confidence and self-esteem, and encouraging them to pursue their passions and develop their talents. What we need from you Someone who can talk with, motivate and engage young people You should have a good understanding of the issues LGBTQ+ young people face We ask that volunteers undergo some training (provided by Porchlight) Two references will be required and a DBS check will be undertaken Where Northfleet (exact location will be given once you've been accepted as a volunteer) Tuesdays, 4.30pm - 6pm Chatham - every Monday 4- 5:30pm Gillingham - every Tuesday 4:30 - 6pm Folkestone - every Tuesday 4-5:30pm Application To apply for this role please download and complete our application form and email it to volunteer@porchlight.org.uk
