Are you over 18 and looking for hands-on experience in a courtroom setting, supporting women and children who have been affected by domestic abuse. SATEDA are seeking dedicated volunteers who will accompany clients to court hearings, help them understand the court process, help them liaise with court officials and provide administrative and emotional support. Applicants must live within a 15 mile radius of one of the family courts in Kent and hold a valid Right to Work in the UK permit

Do you want to help make a lasting impact on the lives of women and children affected by domestic abuse in our community? SATEDA is seeking dedicated volunteers for our Support 2 Court service. This vital programme provides practical and emotional support to women facing the challenges of court proceedings, giving them the confidence to navigate the judicial system and have their voices heard. About the Role As a Support 2 Court volunteer, you will: Accompany clients to court hearings, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and prepared. Provide clear and compassionate communication, helping clients understand the court process. Assist with basic administrative support and help women in liaising with court officials. Serve as an empathetic presence during what can be a stressful time. We’re Looking for Volunteers Who Are: Passionate about social justice and supportive of women’s rights. A background or keen interest in law, psychology, or social work would be ideal. Empathetic and approachable – can offer support in a non-judgmental, friendly manner. Flexible – hours would be subject to court hearings, some of which are an hour, some longer, between 9 am and 5 pm with a potential time commitment minimum of 2 hours per week. Able to provide own transportation or live within walking distance of family courts across Kent and Medway. By volunteering with us, you’ll gain unique experience in the legal environment, hands-on experience with client support, and the chance to make a genuine difference in the lives of those affected by domestic abuse.

Volunteers would need to be empathic and supportive, with a non-judgemental caring attitude. They would also need to be able to liaise on behalf of the women and children we are representing with court officials to ensure that protective measures eg separate waiting room/safety screen in court are provided if required. The role also includes administration before and after court appearances.

Dependent upon court hearings, minimum 2 hours per hearing, but maximum depends on court listings and type of hearing. We ask for a minimum of 2 hearings per month or 2 sessions at either One Stop Shop support drop ins or wellbeing calls
