This is a flexible and exciting opportunity to support our staff in a non-clinical role across various areas of the service. One day you could be supporting on the wards playing board games with a patient and the next providing support with the discharge process. A list of possible duties is below but we would ask that you are flexible in order to support the service needs.
• Receive a brief summary of the patients needs prior to discharge from the nurse and confirm all is in place ready for patient to leave hospital • sit with patients as requested by staff as they await discharge and offer comfort and reassurance • provide drinks and refreshments • If requested by staff assist the patient to pack personal items and ensure all ready prior to departure • liaise with staff to bring to their attention if patients have questions or queries • listen to patient and carer feedback and report concerns, compliments and complaints relaying to staff as necessary • If staff request and previous consent obtained, support with completing patient, carer and discharge surveys, using an iPad or paper version • Meet and greet patients, carers and visitors in the main reception Ensuring they are provided with suitable PPE where appropriate • Support services to welcome patients, help with enquiries, answer the telephone, direct visitors to the facilities, hospital shop and restaurant • Helping on the wards when staff require assistance with non-clinical activities for example interacting with patients taking part in activities such as board games, completing ‘this is me’ and using interactive technology (RITA) to help patients connect with family/friends and general companion support • Help restock PPE, equipment and supplies on the ward • Tidy and replenish laundry
