Gardening Volunteer
The Big Cat Sanctuary
Are you someone who thrives in the great outdoors not afraid of a bit of mud? If that’s a resounding “yes,” then this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Here at The Big Cat Sanctuary, we’re looking for fit, passionate people with a love of plants and nature in general. If you’re the kind of person who laughs in the face of a rainstorm and is always ready to tackle whatever the day throws your way, we want you on our gardening team.
The Big Cat Sanctuary is currently looking for an enthusiastic, creative Volunteer Gardener. The successful person will need some gardening experience, but also be willing to learn from the best about how to create and maintain beautiful gardens for our visitors. You must be motivated, punctual, reliable, honest and have a strong work ethic with a good eye for detail. Practical and physically fit, you should have a keen interest in gardening, plants and landscaping. This really is an opportunity like no other: The chance to contribute to a centre of excellence dedicated to the care and breeding of endangered big cats and to share a passion for wildlife and conservation, all in beautiful surroundings in the Kent countryside. Position Overview Alongside our other Gardens volunteers and staff, be responsible for the day-to-day care and maintenance of the Big Cat Sanctuary’s gardens, including lawns, planters, baskets and beds to ensure that all garden areas are well kept, admired by our visitors and full of interesting, healthy and insect-friendly plants. The post holder is expected to work with the minimum supervision, but also able to thrive in a team environment.
