Emergency Response Volunteer (Gravesend)

British Red Cross

Working alongside the local emergency services every day, from house fires and flooding to power cuts and water shortages, the British Red Cross responds to an emergency almost every 4 hours. As an Emergency Response Volunteer, you will give people the support they need at a time they need it the most.

Detailed Description

When there is a fire, flood or severe weather, we’re among the first to respond. From making a cup of tea to delivering the essentials, we work with other organisations to do what’s needed straight away. We are looking volunteers who: Are able to reach Thameside Fire station (DA11 8NT) within 30 minutes. Can commit to dedicating a minimum of 12 months to volunteering. Are able to attend at least 1 evening team meeting per month. Are able to do a minimum of 2 X 12 hours shifts per month. Have held a driving licence for at least 2 years which allows you to drive manual vehicles in the UK. Have access to your own vehicle and be willing to drive a British Red Cross vehicle, which is usually a large van, SUV, or 4x4. Are available to undertake around 35 hours of required e-learning modules and Zoom training sessions in the first 6 months of volunteering
