Trustee
Ashford & Tenterden Umbrella
Trustee to help lead our charity and decide how it is run. We are a mental health and social support charity based in central Ashford.
Trustees help guide and support a not-for-profit organisation so it can do its work well and make a positive difference. Trustees work together as a team and focus on the big picture – helping guide the organisation, support good decision-making, and plan for the future. Trustees are strategic, not operational. This means you will not be involved in day-to-day delivery. Instead, you help guide and support the organisation alongside other trustees. You do not need previous trustee experience. Training and ongoing support are provided, and the role is covered by the organisation’s insurance policy. Applicants must be aged 18 or over.

An ability to work effectively as a member of a team. An understanding of the legal duties and responsibilities of trusteeship. Good time management reliability. Excellent communication skills. Willingness to commit sufficient time to the Trustee role. Eligible to be a Trustee.
You will be using your skills, knowledge and experience to help ensure Ashford & Tenterden Umbrella continues to be an important part of the local community, providing mental health and social support. Although this is a voluntary position, reasonable out of pocket expenses will be paid.
Trustee roles are designed to be flexible. Trustees are expected to attend formal trustee meetings (often every 2–3 months). Outside of this, involvement can be as much or as little as your time allows. If time commitment is a concern, please still get in touch – we are happy to have a conversation.
