Volunteers support us by engaging with our clients, setting up and helping with activities, refreshments, lunchtime meals and clearing away, providing reassurance, being risk aware and maintaining a safe environment.
Our Wellbeing Hub, based in The Meadowside Centre in Dartford, provides social interaction and support services in a friendly, fun and supportive environment to older people living in North West Kent. This is for older people to meet friends and familiar volunteers and staff and may be the only time they speak to or see another person. There is a range of activities on offer during the day, including arts and crafts, cooking, reminiscence groups, board games, bingo and quizzes.

We would like people who have an interest in older people, they have so many stories to tell, so anyone with an interest in history or the past, ideally a sense of humour, listening skills even if you've heard it before, empathy and patience. Please check where the role is before applying
We offer free online training opportunities in relation to the role and have other courses available if you have an interest in learning more about something that interests you. We produce Volunteer Newsletters and have Network meetings so that you can meet like minded people and share your knowledge and skills with others. We have a Volunteer Handbook and Induction information for your role and support onsite by a member of the staff team.
As a volunteer there are no set times, the Centre is open from 9am - 4pm but you can be flexible in your availability, it could be mornings, or midday over the lunch period or afternoons or a full day. Sessions are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If there are more volunteers on one day we may ask if you would be available on another day so that we can maintain numbers of helpers on site.
