Lunch Club Volunteers (Chatty Chums) Gravesend

Volunteer roles are; to prepare the area for the attendees arrival, including tea and coffee, engage with attendees, talk and listen, have a laugh, support where necessary, deliver the freshly cooked meals to the attendees having awareness of any dietary needs.

Detailed Description

Our Lunch Club's aim is for older isolated or lonely people to have the opportunity for social interaction and a good healthy meal. It is provided 3 days a week for older people to come and enjoy the company of their friends and familiar volunteers who support them, some may only attend once a week and it could be the only time they get to see or speak to another person other than their TV. It is a real lifeline for many and we are in desperate need of volunteers so that we can continue to provide this vital service. As a volunteer we would like individuals who would be able to offer 3-4 hrs. one or more days a week, days needed are Monday, Wednesday and Friday

What is in it for you

Online training is available including Food Hygiene, Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults, with other options available on request. Sense of purpose and achievement, making a difference to someone's mental and physical health, transferable skills include confidence, communication, opens up new opportunities, meet new people and make new friends. Agreed out of pocket expenses.

Time Commitment

The session is held Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so that we can maintain safe numbers we would aim to have 3 - 4 volunteers at each session, if you have some flexibility we may have the need on one day more than another but we will always appreciate whatever time you can offer.
