Help to set out, serve, and clear up food and hot drinks for The Wednesday Warm Welcome lunches as part of a team of 4-6 people. You would need to be available from 11.30am to 2.15pm at least one Wednesday a month at St George's Church in Deal High Street. Through the summer, food will be bread and cheese/pate, savoury and sweet pastries, snacks and cakes. The Wednesday Warm Welcome runs from 12.00 noon to 2.00pm (this may be put back by 15 minutes) each Wednesday, and typically attracts around 25-40 mainly older people, split roughly 50/50 between regular churchgoers and those who come only to the lunches, and mostly people who would otherwise be alone at home. Volunteers need to be people who want to serve others, able to smile, and fit to carry trays of food and drink - cooking not required. We currently have about 12 people doing this role twice a month and, to make is sustainable with cover for absences, to recruit a further 12 who would be able to work at least one Wednesday a month. Suitable for people of all faiths and none so long as they are comfortable volunteering in a church building.
