Volunteer, Numeracy, Literacy & IT

To assist with supporting adults with learning disabilities who wish to gain further independence and Lifeskills. You will help support students by offering individual and in class support bespoke to their individual needs and as directed by the manager/session lead tutor. To be aware of an individual’s holistic needs relating to different activities and learning processes.

Detailed Description

The Lifeskills centre is a life changing academy promoting independence. At the MY Lifeskills academy we offer programmes tailored to individual learning needs, in a secure safe environment. Students at the academy choose from a range of carefully designed programmes to build confidence with numeracy, literacy and information technology. We are looking for volunteers Interested in supporting service users in numeracy, literacy & ICT sessions, You will get involved in helping individuals to learn to tell the time, handle money, improve their reading and writing skills, send e mails etc. Students all work at their own pace and in a style that suits them best. Working alongside adults with learning disabilities will require resilience, patience and sensitivity to others needs. An ability to use one’s initiative working with individuals and groups within the guidelines set by the Lifeskills Manager or work employment coordinator. Should be a team player, along with having great communication and listening skills.

1 day a week would be preferable Monday to Friday
