Independent Visitor (IV)

Would you like to be an IV (Independent Visitor). An IV supports a child in the care of West Sussex County Council, but lives in Kent. Intensive training programme and ongoing support. Includes taking child out once a month. Costs reimbursed.

Detailed Description

An IV is 'matched' with a child/young person who is in the care of West Sussex County Council but lives in Kent. There is extensive training. The IV will take a child out once a month to do an activity of the child's wishes. Costs are reimbursed. Ongoing supervision and additional training included.

Administration,Advice, Information & Support,Befriending, Buddying & Mentoring,Driving (must have full driving license)

What skills are required for this role

UK Driving Licence, Basic IT skills - internet & email, Language Skills, Admin

Why these skills are required

The children and young people in care want to do a variety of activities, so all sorts of skills can be useful. In addition to individual skills, you need to feel confident about your communication/interpersonal skills so that you can support a child on a one to one basis, who may well have suffered trauma in their lives. 21+ only

We accept applications from all groups. IV's are matched with children in accordance to the wishes of the child ie; age, gender preferences. We currently have a high demand for males and younger IV's (20 - 40)
