There are many older people who are looking for company in and around Hythe and Lyminge. Befriending can improve their health and quality of life dramatically. If you can visit weekly, spend time chatting and getting to know the person you'll be making someone's day!
There are many older people who are looking for company in and around Hythe and Lyminge. Befriending can improve their health and quality of life dramatically. The support offered by our befrienders gives them companionship and the opportunity to talk to someone on a regular basis. A friendly volunteer could simply sit and chat, accompany an older person for a walk or give them the confidence to join a local community group or activity. The befriending service takes time to find out a person’s individual interests and hobbies and closely matches them to one of our volunteers. We take referrals from individuals requesting friendship, their families or professionals, but we always ask that the person is aware of the request.
