Volunteer befriender to visit child in care
Surrey Independent Visitor Service
We need volunteers to befriend children in care who would benefit from consistent and regular visits. We ask for a commitment of two years and ask that you visit the child once per month.
We need adult volunteers over the age of 21 to befriend children in care who could benefit from regular visits from a consistent adult. We ask for a commitment of two years and ask that you visit the child once per month. Some children in care have no consistent adult in their lives, especially where the child has lived in several different places. The independent visitor can become this consistent adult. The time commitment is flexible, the meetings can take place after school, at weekends or during school holidays. We will be holding two online information events, on April 2nd and April 9th. Both events are virtual and will run from 7pm - 8.30pm and you will be able to get more information about training, the role and hear from people already appointed as befrienders. If you can't be available for the events, please do still make contact.
