Volunteer Meal Delivery Driver
Age UK Herne Bay & Whitstable
To assist in the delivery and serving of hot meals to older people in the community. The service runs daily, 11.45 am – 13.15 pm daily. A volunteer is not expected to be able to commit to all days and times and as little as one shift a week is a great help to us.
• To collect meals from kitchen at prescribed time • To check meals provided against delivery list to ensure the correct quantity for the round and that special diets have been allocated. • To deliver and serve up meals to clients according to the individual’s preference and pay attention to specific instructions as detailed on delivery list. • To pass on to the Meals Co-ordinator any information regarding the welfare or wellbeing of clients gained during the performance of these duties including any verbal complaints about meals. • To contact the Meals Co-ordinator as soon as possible if unable to make contact with a client to deliver their meal. • To ensure meals are transported and served in a hygienic manner. • To observe the organisation’s policy on Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities and Confidentiality. • Mileage allowance of 45p per mile is paid.

• Good driving skills. • A sensitive, sympathetic, discreet and caring approach to older people. • To be able to maintain a cheerful and approachable demeanour. • To be honest and trustworthy. • Good communication skills
