The Mason Mile
Are you passionate about helping others improve their health and wellbeing? Would you like to join a national movement to help communities become more active? If you answered yes to these questions, then volunteering as a Family Mile Ambassador could be the perfect role for you! Family Mile Ambassadors are inspirational volunteers who lead Miles (these can be short walks or physical activity sessions) in their local communities, at a time/place that’s convenient for them.
Our community-led initiative The Family Mile is delivered in your area by local residents, who are known as Ambassadors. We recruit, train and support these Ambassadors to become trusted friends, who lead Miles (structured or unstructured walking routes), handholding and signposting people within the community to local support services.

We are looking for proactive, confident, and committed people who want to make a real difference in their community, by leading miles, and encouraging others to take part in ‘their mile, their way’! They are only 2 requirements for becoming an Ambassador, firstly you must be at least 18 years old, we also ask that you are able to commit around 3-4 hours a month of your time to volunteering.
Free training in 6 different subject areas (Modules) including health and safety, sustainability, community engagement, social media and more. Support and encouragement every step of the way Guidance through induction to the Ambassador role and organisation. Ongoing support and training to help you to develop key skills for being an Ambassador. Access to an Ambassador online network and hub, where you can share stories and ideas.
