If you enjoy helping wildlife in the countryside and want to get active in the fresh air, then you might enjoy becoming a Nature Reserve Conservation Volunteer at Monkton. It's Fun and Flexible. As a volunteer you will directly help your local community and reserve visitors by carrying out simple and varied jobs to make the reserve a lot easier to use. Outdoor jobs on the reserve can vary from day to day and will depend on the time of year (and the weather!) But current projects include: - Conservation work such as tree planting, removing unwanted shrubs and trees, creating a new pond - Reserve maintenance, such as maintaining paths and car parking areas, and keeping them from becoming overgrown, erecting and maintaining fences, keeping outdoor benches and tables in good condition The work may involve some heavy lifting but we try to accommodate everyone and adapt to individual needs
