Trainee Advisers

We are here to help people in Thanet at times of difficulty.

Detailed Description

We are currently looking for volunteers to train to become advisers. The role consists of meeting people face to face, or speaking to them over the phone or communicating by email. Our volunteers go through the client's query, assisting with information and giving them advice on specific issues. As an adviser, you will address lot's of questions and assist in finding options to problems. You are not expected to know all the answers as our comprehensive data base will give you all the information you need. Full training will be offered to the right individuals and any reasonable travel expenses will be paid. Volunteers receive guidance and support from our Service Co-ordinator and Session Supervisers through out their training and beyond. Our professional Advice Team understand the difficulties many people find themselves in, and can offer help and support at these crucial times. We assist clients when they come to us with a range of issues including: Debt Energy efficiency Problems claiming benefits Unemployment Housing matters Relationship issues Consumer Citizens Advice Thanet helps people tackle their problems head-on with advice, information and practical support. As well as working with clients to sort out their individual problems, the Citizens Advice service also works to change services and policies which are not working for our clients. This role would suit people who are methodical, organised and patient. We are interested in hearing from anyone interested in these roles and work in line with the Citizens Advice aims and ethics. Applicants must be computer literate and have good people skills able to meet and greet people and make them feel welcome.

The Margate office is fully accessible and conveniently located near bus stops. Whilst no formal qualifications are required , we do ask that any prospective volunteer has numeracy and literacy skills to at least GCSE level and is computer literate .
