Long term friend/buddy/ mentor to a child in care
Volunteers are trained by us and then matched with a child or young person who is in care and who desperately needs an independent person to be their long term friend. This involves a commitment of a couple of hours every 2 weeks (but could be once per month) and it is the consistency and commitment to the child, without being paid, that makes all the difference to their lives. I have a young boy aged 10 who lives in the Gillingham area, who is in need of a male role model to show him that people can be kind and caring, don't let you down and see him as valued just for being him.
